Today’s release brings a series of new features related to assignment completion tracking, the ability to upload assignments, social features for sharing assignments, project organization, and automated communication enhancements. See below for details.
Assignment Completion Tracking
The Learner Portal has been updated to indicate individual assignment completions when activities/pages house multiple assignments. This will help learners more easily identify assignments that still need to be completed.
Assignment Upload
It is now possible to create assignments for which learners must upload one or more files into BX to consider the assignment complete. For example, an interactive PDF document could be provided to learners that they would download and complete, then upload it directly into BX. Administrators and project team members can review all submitted files.
In addition, course creators can enable or disable evaluation features, which include the ability to grade a learner’s assignment or send it back to them for further instructions with comments.

Social Assignment Sharing
It is now possible to introduce an activity in which learners can share content with one another. This feature is similar to the assignment upload feature above, except that the uploaded content is shared with learners listed in the same cohort/project.

Project Assessments Tab Title Changed
The “Assessments” tab of projects has been renamed to “Assignments”. This change coincides with the introduction of the assignment upload feature listed above.
Organize Projects Using Folders
It is now possible to create folders to organize your list of projects. This can be useful to organize projects by program, administrator, time period, etc.

Use Automated Communications for Completion Notifications
It is now possible to send communications to the project team and include specific information about learners and assignment completion. For example, an automated email rule can be created to track specific assignment completions—when a learner completes the targeted assignment, a notification can be sent to the project team informing them of who completed the tracked assignment.

Send Automated Communications to Non-BX Users
It is now possible to send automated communications to individuals who have no direct association with projects, or even users who don’t have BX accounts. For example, these can be used for triggering notifications to specific individuals when a communication has been sent to a group of learners.
Mark Individual Assignments Optional
Previously, it was possible to set specific activities/pages as optional assignments that would not count toward course completion. We have expanded this feature to allow for specific assignments under an activity to be marked as optional. For example, an activity could house five assignments, with four of those assignments being required, and the other assignment optional.

New Self-Registration Page
The self-registration page has been updated to include the ability to apply custom elements, such as a custom image and color, custom title, and custom description. Additionally, all live events associated with the course/project will be displayed directly on the registration page so learners can see all associated events prior to registering. Administrators will now find the custom registration settings under the Catalog tab of projects, and the feature to set a maximum number of learners has been migrated to the project’s Settings tab.
