The Blanchard Exchange Course Builder provides features that allow you to create and modify course templates. Most projects created in Blanchard Exchange are based on a course template.
By using the Course Builder, Blanchard Exchange allows you to customize the experience presented to participants. For example, you may want participants to view a letter from an executive sponsor explaining why employees are being asked to participate in the training as their first assignment.
You may also want to schedule a check-in meeting three months after the training and include the meeting details as part of the course experience.
Courses can be created and modified at the account level for reuse across multiple projects, or they can be modified at the project level for cohort-specific customization.
Creating Custom Course Templates (Multiple Uses)
In your Blanchard Exchange Corporate Portal, go to the Library tab and select Course Templates. From the Course Templates section:
Locate the course you want to modify in the list and select the course name.
Select Copy to new near the top of the page.
Modify the Title and Description of the custom course. This title and description are visible only to users with access to the Corporate Portal, such as administrators. They are not visible to learners.
Select Save course design.
- Your custom course is now saved to your account. To make additional changes, select Edit Course Design near the top of the page. You can then modifying the course experience. Refer to the next tutorial for more details on course modifications.
Your custom course template will now appear alongside your other course templates on the project setup screen. You can identify your custom course based on the title and description entered in step 3 above.
Modifying Course Templates at the Project Level (Single/Group-Specific Use)
Open the project you want to customize and select the Edit button in the upper-right corner of the screen. Make your adjustments to the course (see here for more details), then select Save & Publish in the upper-right corner of the Course Builder.
If you are not ready to publish your changes (i.e. make them visible to learners on the project roster), select the Back button. Your changes will be retained but will not be visible to learners until you select Publish.
If you want to discard your changes, select the Undo button near the top of the project.
